The era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 had a significant impact on the economy of a country. The development of the increasing number of investors spread across various regions is an obstacle to increasing its participation during the implementation of the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS). Therefore, companies are required to be able to carry out digital transformation and follow technological developments, especially building an information technology infrastructure that accommodates the needs and makes it easier for shareholders to participate in the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) electronically or better known as e-GMS which is equipped with an e-proxy and e-voting platform. Increasing participation can have an impact on the quality of corporate governance, which can improve the quality of audits higher and have an impact on the level of internal control. On the other hand, the presence of monitoring from shareholders can significantly reduce the company's financial leverage. © 2024 AIP Publishing LLC.
