Student learning difficulties can be detected through diagnostic tests. Diagnostic test results can map students' understanding of various concepts. This mapping is helpful for teachers to discover improvements in the implementation of learning so that concepts that still need to be understood can be followed up immediately. Through these results, teachers can determine steps to improve learning. In this study, a diagnostic test was developed specifically for simple harmonic motion material in high school physics subjects. The developed diagnostic test consists of 20 questions using Moodle. Based on the 20 questions after being tested for the difficulty level, the results are obtained: two very easy questions, eight easy questions, seven difficult questions, and three challenging questions. One of the interesting findings is that students with low mathematical abilities are also not interested and motivated to seek other literacy skills to understand the concept, so students cannot solve the problem. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
