Micro-teaching is a teaching method currently used by many universities in Indonesia to provide real-world experiences and practice basic teaching skills. This method is able to provide optimal results when it is accompanied by observation, assessment, and optimal feedback to students. Observation, assessment, and feedback activities will run well if the adequate assessment instruments support them, meet the current demands, and are valid. This study aims to develop and validate an instrument for assessing basic teaching skills in implementing microteaching. The instrument was developed by adding skills in using technology in TPACK-based learning following the demands of teacher competence in the 21st century. This research is a development research which involves 53 students as samples. The instrument that has been developed can be used to implement online or offline microteaching. A total of 78 statement items were generated to assess eight basic teaching skills. Three validators carried out expert validation and stated that 92.4% of the instrument was feasible. The reliability test with Cronbach’s alpha is 0.9 (very reliable). The item validity test resulted in 56 valid items, and for the evaluation survey, student responses as instrument users gave good results. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
