The impact of the Covid-19 has become a momentum for schools to improve student learning performance, especially during the new adaptation in the period of pandemic Covid-19. However, schools that has been permitted by local government to do to face-to-face learning in the field are also need learning strategies such as strictly health protocols and building a conducive learning environment through social and emotional learning (SEL). The purpose of this study is to understanding and experiences of the teachers (classroom teachers and dormitory teachers) regarding social emotional learning (SEL) program during the covid-19 pandemic in boarding school setting. Semi-structured interview was used on the 6 teachers who have worked for more than 5 years in one of famous of Islamic boarding school located in West Java Province which has 689 students. The result provided that teachers play important role to make a conducive learning during new-normal era, and through social intervention and emotional learning (SEL) improve teacher social-emotional well-being and made a conducive learning climate in order to strengthen students' positive characters and achieve their learning performance. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
