Abstract

Aluminum Alloy 6061 is one of the aluminum alloys with group 6XXX which is able to get heat treatment. This 6XXX group contains silicon and magnesium so that it has superior mechanical characteristics, good corrosion resistance and has a light material weight. To increase the level of hardness, several steps of T6 heat treatment can be carried out. The heat treatment stage was carried out on the Aluminum Alloy 6061 specimen through two stages, namely Solution Heat treatment with a temperature of 530 °C for 5 hours with a quenching using SAE 20W-50 Oil media for 1 hour and Aging with a temperature of 160 °C for 18 hours. After going through the process of heat treatment and quenching or cooling using oil media, then the damage test of the test object is carried out, namely the hardness of the Vickers method and the tensile test. The purpose of this study is to determine the value of hardness and to identify tensile strength properties. In the test results, the highest Vickers hardness test material was obtained with an average value of 96.69 VHN with a percentage of 81% and tensile strength the highest average stress was obtained at 304.021 MPa with a percentage of 219%. © 2023 Author(s).
