Unveil the project-based nanolearning model to enhance creative thinking skills

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a Project-Based Nano Learning (PBNL) model as an innovative digital learning framework that integrates project-based learning (PjBL) with nanolearning strategies to enhance students' creative thinking skills and social competence. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach adapted from the Borg and Gall model, consisting of needs analysis, model design, expert validation, limited trials, revision, and effectiveness testing. In this study, nanolearning was operationally defined as ultra-short instructional content delivered in approximately 30-second modules designed to present single learning concepts concisely. The participants consisted of 34 undergraduate students enrolled in the Elementary School Teacher Education program, divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data collection techniques included expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and learning outcome assessments. The results of expert validation showed a validity score of 89.2, categorized as very valid, while the practicality test obtained a score of 87.5, indicating that the model was easy to implement and suitable for digital learning environments. The effectiveness test was conducted using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA), which revealed that the PBNL model significantly improved students' creative thinking skills by 32 and social competence by 28, with an effect size value of 0.81 categorized as high. These findings indicate that the PBNL model is effective, practical, and adaptable to the demands of 21st-century education. Furthermore, the model supports the principles of Education 5.0 by integrating technological innovation with human-centered learning values. The study implies that the PBNL model can serve as an alternative instructional approach that promotes independent learning, collaboration, and creativity among students in digital learning environments.
