In this paper, an antenna array design for weather radar applications using proximity coupled feeding and multi-layer parasitic techniques is described. The purpose of this antenna array design is to increase the gain and bandwidth performance of the microstrip antenna with an efficient number of elements. In this study, the proposed antenna design uses FR-4 epoxy material with = 4.3 at C-Band frequency. The proposed antenna design achieves a bandwidth of up to 1.243 GHz and a gain of 12.2 dBi. These results prove that the use of proximity coupled feeding technique and additional of the multi-layer parasitic can improve the performance of the antenna array. Thus, the antenna array design using this technique can be used as the basis for developing portable weather radar antennas and other radar applications. © 2022 IEEE.
