This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning model assisted by student worksheets on students' critical thinking skills in learning physics. The research was conducted in SMA Negeri 31 Jakarta on the second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. The samples in this study were class X IPA 1 as the experimental class and class X IPA 2 as the control class. This study used quasi-experimental research method with unequal pretest-posttest control group design. The samples were taken using purposive sampling method, the experimental class was taught by using project-based learning model assisted by student worksheets and the control class was taught by using direct learning model. The data were collected by using tests of critical thinking skills obtained from the pretest and posttest. The results showed that students who were taught by using project-based learning model assisted by student worksheets had higher critical thinking skills than students who were taught by using direct learning model. This can be seen from the average score of the two classes, where the experimental class has an average score of critical thinking skills of 74.57 while the control class has an average score of 61.29. The results difference between the two classes was tested by t-test resulting in a value of 4.569, while the value of t-count on the t-table was 1.995. This means that the value of t-count > t-table so that the result of the t-test rejects H0 and accepts H1. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of project-based learning model assisted by student worksheets has a positive influence on students' critical thinking skills in learning physics on work and energy subject at SMA Negeri 31 Jakarta. Therefore, the application of the project-based learning model is highly recommended in secondary school learning. © 2019 Author(s).
