Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and reliable performance assessment instrument based on contextual teaching and learning. The drafting phase was done at State University of Jakarta and MA Al-Aisyah, City of Bogor. This research method used is development research adapted from the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The initial study of this research is the collection of information which was done by spreading the questionnaires to 30 high school teachers in JABODETABEK, Indonesia. The result of initial study was the teachers have difficulty in performing performance assessment because they did not have specific criteria for assessing students' skills in conducting simple harmonic motion experiment, there were only general criteria and did not describe the characteristics of simple harmonic motion experiment. Thus, it was necessary to develop an instrument of performance assessment for students based on the contextual teaching and learning approach in simple harmonic motion experiment in high school. This instrument of performance assessment consisted of 40 items which given out to students for validation test, the result was 35 items were valid. These 35 valid items then tested in large groups and we obtained 31 valid instrument items. The validity test used is point biserial whereas the reliability test used is KR20 and obtained the validity of r-score 0,709 > r-table 0,361 with significant level 5% which is valid and its reliability r-score 0,86> r-table 0,8 with significant level 5% which stated reliable. The research resulted in 31 valid and reliable items which can be used by the teachers as an instrument for performance assessment on simple harmonic motion subject. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd.
