This study aims to describe and explore the application of project-based learning to enhance the Mathematics Pedagogical Content Knowledge (MPCK) of prospective elementary school teachers. The case study was conducted on 18 prospective elementary school teachers who carried out teaching practice projects on elementary school students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis related to the teaching practice projects. The study's results indicate that project-based learning enhanced the MPCK of prospective elementary school teachers. The study's findings regarding the challenges faced by prospective teachers related to self-confidence, mastery of materials, time constraints, and the process of adapting to the classroom environment serve as reflections for improving MPCK of prospective elementary school teachers, as well as evaluation of the teaching practices carried out. This study provides insight into the impact of project-based learning through direct teaching practice on elementary school students, which can enhance the MPCK of prospective elementary school teachers. © 2026 Author(s).
