This paper examines and classifies the current educational and Building Information Modeling (BIM) research landscape and a framework for future research. The research method uses Bibliometric Analysis and Tertiary Study. The Scopus and WoS databases were utilized to obtain 1611 documents relevant to BIM Education. The Tertiary Study uses 12 Literature Review articles on BIM Education in tertiary institutions. The bibliometric results show that BIM research has expanded since 1989. Developed countries have contributed to the rapid pace of BIM research, namely China, USA and UK. The BIM education theme is more comprehensively discussed through the Tertiary Study. In general, universities will implement BIM starting from the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. The attributes of each stage are very complex in line with the complexity of the multidisciplinary BIM implementation. This paper presents it more systematically to be understood and applied in any tertiary institution. © 2025 Author(s).
